The Tax System Explained in Beer

Suppose that every day, ten men go out for beer and the bill for all ten comes to $100.  If they paid their bill the way we pay our taxes, it would go something like this:

The first four men (the poorest) would pay nothing.
The fifth would pay $1.
The sixth would pay $3.
The seventh would pay $7.
The eighth would pay $12.
The ninth would pay $18.
The tenth man (the richest) would pay $59.

So, that's what they decided to do.  The ten men drank in the bar every day and seemed quite happy with the arrangement, until one day, the owner threw them a curve ball.  "Since you are all such good customers," he said, "I'm going to reduce the cost of your daily beer by $20."  Drinks for the ten men would now cost just $80.

A Time Revolution?

We all know our time is precious; we all seem to wish we had more time, mostly because we feel there just isn't enough time in the day to get things done.

My observation is most people misuse the time they do have, have you ever noticed how some people produce great results in very little time or perceived effort? Why do you think that is?

Burn Your Boats

Have you ever noticed how the pressure of having your back up against the wall can actually produce great achievements?

Let me ask you this, when you’re complacent and things are easy, do you perform at your best?  It's human nature to take the path of least resistance but does greatness ever comes by taking the easy way? Of course not. Thomas Edison, Henry Ford, Bill Gates and Oprah Winfrey, did not take the path of least resistance to get where they were and are.

Think like a squirrel!!

I know you’re probably thinking: doesn't a squirrel have a very small brain?

The statement really relates to confidence and fear.  Have you ever seen a squirrel leap between tree tops or run along telephone wires?  The squirrel has total confidence and no fear.
